Introducing The Mobile Marketing Dictionary

In today’s mobile application world, the terminology and technology can move faster than the creative thinkers and businesses, and we at Social Times thought we could help by putting together the Mobile Marketing Dictionary. The dictionary has all the terms that you’re going to encounter as you try to buy advertising on mobile applications, publish advertising on your own mobile application or get installations for your mobile app. Read the Mobile Marketing Dictionary here and please let us know if there’s a term you’re curious about or one we missed.

Biz Stone: New Twitter Interface Wasn't Designed for Monetization, but 'It Lends Itself to Advertising and Revenue Opportunities'

Twitter execs said their main motivation for doing a redesign of Twitter.com, which they unveiled Tuesday at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, was to improve the user experience – to make Twitter “faster, easier, richer, more efficient to use,” as Biz Stone (right) put it. Monetization was so low on the list of design objectives that execs said they hadn’t even shown the new site to advertisers before yesterday’s launch. But, in an interview with WebNewser, Stone said he thinks the new design does offer the possibility for “new revenue-generating opportunities.” “The fact that you can click on any tweet that interests you and see even more information lends itself to advertising and revenue opportunities of promoted tweets and and so forth,” he told us.

After the jump, Stone tells us more about those monetization opportunities, why he’d prefer people not spend all that much time on Twitter, and why he thinks the redesign will nevertheless produce more users. Also: Complete screenshots of the new design.

Case Study: How LightViper Leveraged Facebook To Promote Business-to-Business Services

Get advice from qualified sources. Plan well. Start small. Check results and tweak the plan. Be persistent. Watch for orders. Those were the steps taken by niche B2B data transport company Fiberplex when it decided to advertise its LightViper brand on Facebook. LightViper’s approach has moderate costs, stays “within the box” and serves as a model for other B2B companies who are considering advertising on social media platforms.

Twitter on Promoted Tweets: "So Far, We've Received Positive Feedback"

One can only guess whether the Promoted Tweet for Toy Story 3 directly contributed to the film’s blockbuster opening. To get a better understanding of Twitter’s new advertising scheme, we presented a few questions to the company last week. Here are the responses. continued…

Will Promoted Tweets Earn Twitter Revenue to Infinity and Beyond?

The first Twitter Promoted Tweet came as no surprise. Promoted Tweets and Trends were announced back in April. Last month, Twitter modified its Terms of Service (TOS) to prohibit third parties from injecting paid tweets into a timeline on any service built on the Twitter API. And it makes sense that the first Promoted Tweet was from a big, visible advertiser – Disney/Pixar. There was no user revolt and blogosphere comments range from inquisitive to supportive, with only a few criticisms. Twitter did it right.
