Did you watch the MTV Video Music Awards over the weekend? If so, did you tweet about them or post your thoughts about the awards show on Facebook? If you did, you aren’t alone. Over 1.2 million comments were shared by over 559,000 people, making the VMAs the most social TV program of all time!

Earlier this week we posted about the most social TV shows, letting you know that Family Guy, Basketball Wives and SpongeBob SquarePants were among the most social shows on television. Last night all that changed with the season 4 premiere of Jersey Shore.

Some of the most exciting news to come out of Comic-Con is that Beavis And Butt-Head will be making their triumphant return to MTV this fall. But the show is getting an upgrade for 2011 and instead of just riffing on music videos, the rude, crude and hilarious duo will be talking trash about YouTube videos! “Huh-huh-huhh…He said ‘Charlie bit me’!”

MTV added Tumblr to its social media arsenal, launching a blog that initially offers original and repurposed content, with expansion plans including live-blogging the MTV Movie Awards June 5.

MTV’s inaugural O Music Awards are being held Thursday night, not Friday, but that won’t stop YouTube superstar Rebecca Black from appearing at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT from a surprise location in Las Vegas.

The first annual broadcast of The Comedy Awards, brought to you by MTV Networks and Comedy Central, goes live tomorrow night, Sunday April 10, on Comedy Central, and other MTV channels at 9PM EST, but if you tune in to watch The Comedy Awards webcast online you’ll get even more.

The social media tool is based on the difficulty of paying for a higher education. It is a key reason many college students fail to graduate. Past studies have shown that upwards of two million college students don’t apply for any of the nearly $70 billion in financial aid the government distributes each year, and that almost two-thirds of students find the process of applying for financial aid difficult.

Voting for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards began Tuesday and will run through Tuesday, April 5, with fans able to vote in 13 categories and the top selections making the final list of nominees, which will then be voted on May 3-June 4.

The 20^th annual 2011 MTV Movie Awards will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., Sunday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET.

The categories are: best movie (voting stays live throughout the ceremony), best comedic performance, best villain, best kiss, best fight, best male performance, best female performance, best female breakout star, best male breakout star, biggest badass star, best scared-as-shit performance, best jaw-dropping moment, and best line from a movie (new category).
