Facebook Allows Users to Download Expanded Archive of Their Information

The “Download Your Information” feature now includes catalogues of friend requests a users make, IP addresses they’ve logged in from and any previous names they’ve used, among other Facebook actions. This is in addition to the copy of photos, posts, messages, chat conversations, friend lists and other information that Facebook first made available for download in 2010. The New York Times Facebook, which is preparing for an initial public stock offering, most likely in May, has been trying to accommodate government officials in Europe, where privacy laws are more stringent than in the United States. Mashable The archive still doesn’t include your friends’ photos and status updates, other users’ personal info and comments you’ve made on other people’s posts. Narrated by Tom Hanks and featuring interviews with key political leaders from Bill Clinton to Rahm Emanuel, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and more, the 17-minute film reviews Obama’s first term, all the crises he had to deal with and how he dealt with them.

Chinese Flood Obama’s Google+ Page with Humorous Comments

China’s dammed Internet wall is common knowledge — Chinese users are blockaded from looking at Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other sites that their government doesn’t allow.  With all that pressure building up, though, the dam seems to have had a small crack, and it led to Obama’s Google+ page.

Jon Stewart Makes Fun of Obama’s Google+ Hangout

Jon Stewart – host of The Daily Show, a comedy show lampooning the latest in political developments – poked fun at Obama’s latest Google+ Hangout and wondering what exactly Obama was thinking when he accepted a woman’s resume live on the Hangout.  Jon Stewart referred to Google+ as the ‘What the F— is that thing up there? Is there any way I turn that off?’

Watch Obama’s Complete Google+ Hangout with America [Video]

President Obama completed his first live Google Hangout on Monday, and the results were pretty good.  Google has put up the video, and you can see that whether you agree with the answers or not, the overall effect of having Americans from all over the country asking live questions to the President is a very effective way to see the President in a variety of situations.  Unfortunately, for this particular interview the questions were strongly moderated and the questions were a bit too vague — the whole interview had a positive vibe and some tough questions weren’t addressed.

Obama to Answer Your Questions on State of the Union Interview on Google+

Following tomorrow’s crucial State of the Union address, President Barack Obama will participate in a Google Plus Hangout next week to ostensibly field questions about his speech.  He’ll be addressing questions from users who will have until January 28th to submit their questions via video.  I’m curious to see how much of a draw the event has, and whether it will raise the profile of Google Hangouts.
