Canadians who’ve got a hankering to watch more free, legal online video content, including films and television shows, will be happy to hear that Crackle.com has now officially opened up its doors to Canadian viewers. Crackle, formerly known as Grouper, has been offering online streaming video content for a few years now, but since April 2009 it was only available to viewers in the United States. The site opened its gates to viewers in the UK and Australia last June and this week announced that it is now available in Canada as well.

Closed Captions LogoAs more and more networks are beginning to broadcast their television shows online it has become evident that closed captions are imperative, not only to cater to individuals that are hard of hearing but also to make it easier for viewers with English as a second language. Deaf viewers have been pushing for closed captions online for quite some time now, and if the United States government has anything to say about it, captions could become mandatory for all television shows on the web.
