The Peace Corps followed the General Services Administration sanction in deciding to join Tumblr. General Services Administration is setup at USA.gov as a Tumblog. A social media contractor for USA.gov, told The Daily Caller “We had to negotiate a different terms of service for government employees. By doing that, we opened the door for the State Department, and the Peace Corps, and the National Archives to come in and do their thing.”

Former second-place winner Carrie Pavlik of Pittsburgh was upped to first place and will receive a $2,500 cash prize for “My Piece of the Peace Corps.” John Garvey, a Peace Corps volunteer serving in Burkina Faso, was moved up to second place for “A Peace Corps Song,” and he will get $1,000. And the new addition to the list of winners, in third place, is Matthew Hardwick, a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Vanuata, for “Leaving Home (Vanuatu).” He will take home a $500 cash prize.

First place and a $2,500 cash prize went to Marlene Nancy Lopez, a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Moldova, for “The Peace Corps Effect,” which featured a Moldovan teenager playing guitar and teaching English to a group of disabled students while she talks about the influence a Peace Corps Volunteer had on her.
