Eye-Fi Direct Mode About To Be Available

Back in January the makers of the Eye-Fi WiFi-enabled Secure Digital cards announced that they will be adding the ability to directly transfer pictures from cameras to mobile devices later this year. We now know the feature be available on a new 8 GB Mobile X2 card that will be available for purchase starting April 17. Owners of existing X2 cards will be able to install an upgrade by the end of the month that adds the feature to their card.

Path Raises $8.5 Million For 2 Million Shared Items… $4 For Every Share!

Path, the social networking site founded by ex-facebook executive Dave Morin, Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning and Dustin Mierau, has raised $8.65 million in venture capital funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Index Ventures. Kleiner’s Chi-Hua Chien and Index’s Mike Volpi will be joining Path’s board as a result of the funding. The current round of funding brings the total money raised by Path to $11.2 million.

Apple Getting Serious About Social Media, Plans to Integrate Media Sharing Into iPhones

apple-logo Apple has just released a new beta for iOS 4.3. But what is interesting in the file system of this new release is the folder titled “Media Stream”. The Media Stream folder contains a lot of information about “Photo Streaming”, which might be an upcoming social feature integrated into the all iOS devices. 9 to 5 Mac, who has dugged this information, thinks that soon Apple will let iPhone users set up “Photo Streams” that friends could subscribe to.

This year’s winner spent 5 tireless days developing something extraordinary. While it isn’t exactly breaking news, this robot, developed by Tami Ka, is pretty incredible. The robot is inspired by the Crazy Planets robot. Honestly, this robot is something I’d expect to find in Make magazine with the incredible to detail.
