Google+ definitely brings a new methodology to the social networking arena. My first thought after taking the tour is the new platform will help me organize my friends and help me find content that interests me that I can share with others. I can take pictures and instantly upload them to my Google+ page, which is better than jumping through technical hoops. I look forward to the day when I can sign up.

Friendster Will Delete User Files by the End of May

In the present, it appears Friendster is changing its format and foregoing the idea of sharing with friends. In a message to registered members, the company is asking all users to install a custom application to export all their profile data, as most of it will be definitely deleted on May 31, 2011. So, mark your calendars with a big red circle, so you don’t lose your profile data.

The Beastie Boys Make Some Noise on Tumblr

We have been hearing how Tumblr has been growing like crazy, but now the social networking platform is getting noticed even more with The Beastie Boys new song, “Make Some Noise.” The popular rock band introduced their new song from their next album by playing it on Tumblr. Beastie Boy Mike D posted on the site about using Tumblr and saying that it wasn’t really part of the plan, but since followers are out there, “we wanted to let you hear it here first, or maybe second. Enjoy.”

Bebo Launches Open Platform for Mobile Networking

When it comes to major social networks, open platforms seem par for the course. What we haven’t seen as a standard yet, is an open platform specifically for mobile developers. Bebo is announcing its platform called Bebo Open Mobile today, which consists of partnerships extended to most facets of the mobile industry. From mobile developers to operators and manufactures, Bebo is putting forth a concerted effort to promote, distribute and monetize mobile social media.

It’s an important move for Bebo to make, especially as mobile social networking is helping to drive overall use of mobile web access. While mobile Internet has yet to make up even half of the web usage on a global scale, it’s a growing area of interest for most parties involved.
