Just a few weeks ago, PlayFirst announced their new Chocolatier: Sweet Society Facebook game, and a few weeks prior we had a chance to sit down with Mitali Pattnaik to discuss the title and her work at PlayFirst.  Chocolatier is a game where you run a chocolate store and must do everything from set your store layout to actually mix the chocolate in the factory in the back.  The game sets itself apart by really emphasizing the sound, texture and look of the chocolate making process, and in my talk with Mitali she explains how PlayFirst emphasizes the emotional aspects of the game with an emphasis on appealing to a female audience.

PlayFirst, a casual entertainment company known for publishing the popular franchise Diner Dash and Choclatier series, has begun testing the waters on Facebook. Their new game, entitled Chocolatier: Sweet Society, is a virtual business management game where players create and manage their own chocolate shoppe, making an assortment of chocolates to sell to their friends. The game has been adopted properly for the Facebook platform and is good example on how other casual gaming companies can follow suit.

PlayFirst is including Facebook Connect in their upcoming release of Diner Dash 5: Boom for PC/Mac. Players will be able to gift a power-ups to friends by logging into Facebook Connect. There is no further integration with Facebook in the game, and no mention has been made of whether similar functionality will exist on other platforms. There will also be Facebook and Twitter pages dedicated to the game, but these do not affect gameplay.
