Advertising History Is Made — Web Ads Overtook Newspaper Ads in 2010

Okay, the deed is done: online has finally beaten print. The advertising dollars have been counted, and it looks like bits and bytes are prevailing in 2010, though the margin is slim. According to research from eMarketer, writes Peter Kafka of AllThingsD, web advertising spend is poised to hit $25.8 billion in 2010, while newspaper ad spend will reach $25.7 billion. Interestingly, $3 billion of the 2010 newspaper take is actually online.

Screencast: Free Tools to Record Your Screen

Last week my boss approached me about a presentation she was putting together for a large audience. Her default play was to put together the typical Powerpoint slideshow which she planned to narrate.

Yawn. Snore. Boring!

Thankfully she has an open mind and I was able to introduce her to screencasts: simple videos that have the ability to show what is happening on the computer screen. They can be recorded in advance and some neat bells and whistles can be added. The best part is that many of these tools are free.

ScreenToaster

ScreenToaster is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and is 100% Web-based. Simply approve a Java Applet to run and you can capture screen actions with a single click.

The keyboard command of ‘ALT + S’ will record/pause your presentation. Choose to record the full screen or designate a specific area, depending on what you are looking to illustrate.

Bonus features include the ability to add subtitles, an option to remove/replace audio and control over a screencap preview. continued…

Print Your MySpace Photos and Profiles via an HP Branded Print Option

Today, when no one hardly prints on paper anymore and every company seems to be hot on the heels of promoting green propaganda, MySpace and HP decided to go against the tide and are actually encouraging MySpace members to print their profiles or photos they’ve uploaded on their MySpace profiles, via a print options that sits on MySpace members profile pages. The print option which bears the HP brand will start showing up sometime in November, according to a TechCrunch post. continued…
