Yesterday afternoon the Sesame Street YouTube channel was taken offline following a lewd hacker attack in which many of the channel’s videos were taken down and replaced with pornographic video clips.

I’m not ashamed to admit that at 28 years old many of my favorite television shows are still kids’ shows. I love Yo Gabba Gabba!, Blues Clues and the They Might Be Giants podcast, but most of all I love Sesame Street. One of the best things about Sesame Street is that it’s a great educational program for kids but it still keeps adults in mind, adding in funny storylines and innuendos that go right over kids heads but put a big smile on parents’ faces. Unless you live under a rock, odds are that you’ve heard that Katy Perry was kicked off Sesame Street last week. Her music video with Elmo was deemed inappropriate by parents, due to some serious cleavage and a slightly provocative acting style. Since the video was banned from Sesame Street it has been the talk of the town on YouTube and numerous parodies and commentaries have been uploaded.
