Wrapping up this year’s series of Social Gaming and Virtual Goods Summits is the Social Gaming Summit East, taking place on December 1st in New York City. Read more about it below.
This year has been a dramatic one for social games. Leaders like Zynga have emerged as clear leaders and drawn unprecedented amounts of revenue, but have also been hit by losses as FarmVille finally dropped to the number 2 spot. EA has moved forward with Playfish in creating branded games based on the FIFA and Madden franchises, and Playdom was purchased by Disney. There’s a lot of change in the area and in my honest opinion, that’s made these last Social Gaming Summits really valuable.
At the last Social Gaming Summit, we had Gareth Davis from Facebook explaining some important insights as to how many players were playing games (200 million) and how important mobile is (200 million mobile Facebook users). At this event, we’ll have Trip Hawkins from Digital Chocolate explaining where the social games market is heading, Brian Balfour from Viximo explaining the advantage of non-Facebook networks and more. I’ll also be in attendance, and would love to hear more about your own projects in social games.
