The end of 2011 is fast approaching and SocialGuide, the social entertainment guide that monitors real-time buzz about TV and movies, is celebrating the coming of the new year with an infographic roundup of the most social TV shows, movies, networks and sporting events of 2011. Last weekend Paranormal Activity 3 broke box office records when they closed the largest grossing weekend of all time for horror movies, and the biggest October opening ever, at a whopping $54 million. How did they do it? It looks like social media, and more specifically Twitter, played an important role in building major buzz that led to this horror flick’s record-breaking weekend.

Earlier this week New York-based social TV company SocialGuide announced that it has entered into an agreement with Tribune Media Services (TMS), a leader in the field of entertainment information databases. I had the opportunity to ask Sean Casey, the CEO of SocialGuide, about what this partnership means for the future of the social TV service.
