Restaurants’ Mobile Facebook Pages Integrated with OpenTable; Listings Added to Mobile Pages for TV Shows, Movies (AllFacebook)
Mobile Facebook pages for restaurants, TV shows, and movies will become much more useful shortly, as the social network announced two updates to its mobile pages that will launch later this week. For restaurants, Facebook users will be able to make reservations directly on their pages following an integration with online real-time restaurant-reservation service OpenTable, eliminating the need to visit the mobile sites of the approximately 20,000 U.S. restaurants that support OpenTable, or to launch the OpenTable application.

Facebook reached 1.15 billion monthly active users as of June 30, up 21 percent compared with the second quarter of 2012, while daily active users were up 27 percent to 699 million, and mobile monthly active users leaped by 51 percent to 819 million, the company reported as part of its second-quarter financial results. The social network reported 469 million mobile daily active users at the end of the second quarter of 2013.

In its ongoing efforts to police how its data is used by third-party apps, Twitter this week shut down mobile TweetDeck apps, Facebook integration with TweetDeck and use of the social commerce app Flattr on its platform.
Twitter announced it has chosen to discontinue older Tweetdeck apps in order to focus on its web app client. Tweetdeck for iPhone, Android and Air will also be removed from their respective app stores in May and the apps will no longer work.
Native apps for Mac and Windows will continue to work but will no longer see improvement. The company also quietly stated that it would discontinue support for Facebook integration, but offered little details on when and how.
