In my own personal social media business, one of our principles is centered around the idea that every social media platform has its own positives and negatives. Part of my job is to understand what each platform can and cannot do, and plan accordingly.

In order to produce the white paper, PR Newswire interviewed 644 marketers. As a result of those interviewed it was found that those marketing content via LinkedIn, 57% had acquired new customers through that social network. Fifty-seven percent of those using blogs also acquired new customers, as did 48% of those using Facebook and 42% of those using Twitter.

The key to the overall report is that 92 percent of the users are on Facebook. So, let’s leave Facebook on its pedestal and take a look at the other social networks.

To error is human and Tumblr admits a human being made the mistake which led to the exposure of “sensitive server configuration information”, but not the rumored disclosure of users’ login details.
