The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has unveiled the beta version of its new website FCC.gov with an emphasis on consumer use and interactivity. It’s new, it’s splashy and it uses key words like “blog” and “citizen engagement platforms.” But is it really ‘government 2.0’ we can believe in?

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has launched a revamped website that is completely integrated with social media sites like Youtube and Flickr. The new website show cases videos from CIA’s Youtube Channel and photos from its Flickr photo stream, along with spy games and an interactive timeline of the agency’s history.

Most people think the key to going viral has something to do with the content of their posts, and while it does, they tend to ignore that one of the key elements to going viral is being memorable. Everyone already knows that when it comes to building a successful blog or Website, content is king. Thanks in part to a growing number of easy-to-install widgets, you can populate your online home with a variety of interesting material that isn’t necessarily created by you. Or better yet, create your own XML feed and present your information in a fresh and exciting way. Here are several free Websites that allow you to create or pull widgets.

All you need to create a widget is a feed of content. This can be pulled from your blog, YouTube, Flickr, twitter and others.
A Blidget allows you to turn your blog into an instant widget that can be installed by other Website owners. For example, if you have a blog on career advice, you can create a Blidget and hope that other employment-related Websites will display your content.
There are thousands of widgets available for installation. These can be found via search or by Tab.
A Pro account, which costs only a few cents a day, gives the widget creator greater control. You can add logos, incorporate tabs and remove the WidgetBox identifier from the bottom of the widget. Read more
New year, new president, new administration in the White House, and new focus on technology as an integral aspect of all the changes that lie ahead for President Obama’s term. Just this morning, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, and already we’ve seen some major updates and changes to the White House’s website.
Aside from a new face and a new blog, the administration’s goals for technology have been laid out on a dedicated page within the website. Nothing posted here seems to be surprising or different from what we’ve heard throughout Obama’s presidential campaign in the past year, but it is important to note some of the changes outlined by the new administration.
