Taxi-hailing app Uber has added fare splitting so you can now split a cab with a friend or colleague and divide the cost up equally. You can split the fare with one or more parties. The Uber blog explains how to split a fare:
- Request a ride
- Tap the “up arrow” icon next to your driver’s info
- Select “Split Fare”
- Choose your friends
- Tap “Send”
If you friend is not an Uber user, they’ll be prompted to download the app and sign up.
Uber is available in more than 30 cities around the world. The company has been growing and opening services in new cities over the past year. At the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in New York this past April, venture capitalist Bill Gurley an early backer in eBay, said that Uber is growing faster than eBay did back in the day.
