A new app called ScreenChomp was uploaded to iTunes a few weeks back. I only noticed it today because a friend sent me a link and suggested I try it.

This free app is more than your ordinary sketchpad. It’s supports sketching in several colors and line thicknesses. But you can also use the app to record what you’re writing while you’re doing it. This means that rather than save an image of a solved problem, you can record all the intermediate steps and show how you got the answer one step at a time. You can also upload the video you made to the ScreenChomp website. It can be viewed, shared, and downloaded as a MP4 file.

This app raises some interesting possibilities for remote teaching. For example, a teacher can respond to a question in an email with a link to a demo video.

Neat.
