We saw this on TechCrunch. It’s a 1981 report from KRON-TV in San Francisco about “an experiment” that puts the daily newspaper on “your home computer.” One of the last lines may be the best, and it still holds: “Engineers now predict a day will come when we get all our newspapers and magazines by home computer. But that’s a few years off.”
KRON, the station that produced this report, is itself in financial straits. Parent company Young Broadcasting, which owns 10 TV stations across the country, was delisted from the NASDAQ yesterday. KRON has been for sale for a year.
