The Huffington Post is adding yet another vertical, this time focusing on the arts. The new section, “HuffPost Arts” will cover all thigns art and culture, and will be edited by artist Kimberly Brooks.
HuffPost says the arts section grew out of arts coverage in its local editions. As is the case for the other verticals, the section will feature guest bloggers with a focus on arts & culture.
“Having written books on two of the greatest artists of the 20th century — Pablo Picasso and Maria Callas — I have always looked forward to the day when we would be launching an arts section,” said Arianna Huffington in a statement. “And it’s a particular delight to be doing it with Kimberly Brooks, who will editing the new section. She is a wonderful artist in her own right, and has been writing passionately about artists and their art since HuffPost launched.”
“As an artist, I want to be a part of any effort that helps other artists get more exposure for their art, so encouraging Huffington Post bloggers and readers to share their opinions — and their work — is something I especially look forward to,” said Brooks. “I want the arts page to feel vibrant and alive, bursting with energy and smart content — both visual and written. I also welcome everyone who’s involved in the arts, or who just cares about the subject, to feel like they now have a place online where they can be heard.”
