The Huffington Post and Campus Progress teamed up on a competition to determine who will address the 2010 Campus Progress National Conference in Washington, D.C., July 7-8.
The two parties said contestants can submit video entries explaining what they are doing to effect positive change on their campuses or in their communities, and readers of college news and opinion hub HuffPost College will vote on the winners.
Campus Progress communications associate Sara Haile-Mariam said:
As a hub for all things college-related, HuffPost College is a terrific partner for us in providing a platform for college students — and other young adults — who are hungry for an opportunity to speak out against the idea that America’s youth has become apathetic in the wake of the ’08 elections. We want people to hear about the amazing work being done by young people every day, and we hope this initiative will inspire others to take action.
And HuffPost College editor Leah Finnegan added:
We’re excited to partner with Campus Progress in recognizing the young people working hard in their communities and on campuses across the nation, and we look forward to teaming up with an organization that seeks to help young people — advocates, activists, journalists, artists, and others — have their voices be heard on issues that matter.
