The Internet Commemorates the Life of Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher, who served as the UK’s Prime Minister all through the 1980′s, has died at the age of 87.

The internet, as usual, is a minefield of insensitivity and cluelessness as media outlets commemorate and concerned citizens mourn the loss of an accomplished public figure.

Other outlets are fighting ignorance with information. The Thatcher Foundation is sharing links to historical archives through its Twitter handle.

“A very sad day,” the editors wrote of Thatcher’s passing. “Our thoughts at this time are with Baroness Thatcher’s friends and family.”

During her term, the conservative “Iron Lady” had worked to privatize certain industries, reduce social welfare programs, and limit the power of trade unions.
