Looking for a “state of the union” type article about mobile media? The New York Times just ran one, with information on everything from ABC’s Lost and Grey’s Anatomy launch on mobile, to various details on ESPN. They also veer off with some analysis of mobile Web sites like CBS News, Esquire, and Good Housekeeping.
Unlike with other new ideas in the tech world, everyone already has a cellphone. There’s virtually no barrier to entry for most consumers. At this point, it’s all logistics: figuring out what works on a two-inch screen, improving cellphone interfaces, giving folks real content and not ad-infested, throwaway video clips, and (most importantly) bringing prices down.
