Nexus One is a Keeper-But, Here’s What’s Missing

So, here’s the thing… Neither Google nor HTC claimed that the Nexus One would be the end-all-be-all Android phone or an iPhone-killer. I’m not a Google/HTC apologist. But, as someone who paid my hard-earned $529 and sees the various Nexus One flaws, I think it is exactly what it was supposed to be: The first of a series of unlocked Android phones available directly through Google and throwing a small monkey wrench in the way wireless carriers in the U.S. do business.

The Nexus One is not an iPhone-killer or BlackBerry-killer. It is, however, a decent phone with a couple of good features and a number of flaws. Mine became unresponsive to touch yesterday afternoon, for example, and required a power cycle (pulled the battery).
