TiVo announced that it has eked out a profit of $2.9 million in revenue of $65 million in the second quarter of this year, according to CNET News. The company lost a few more subscribers—36,000—but still has 3.6 million, and is holding up surprisingly well even though they lost their big DirecTV linkup some time ago.
TiVo said in a statement that other distribution deals, including a partnership with Comcast, are still in the early stages. The company still has TiVoToGo in terms of mobile initiatives, and Sling Media software lets TiVo owners with a Slingbox watch TiVo on dozens of supported cell phones. TiVo also recently added YouTube capability to its set top boxes.
