Top 10 Cities Where Phones are Lost or Stolen Identified by Lookout Security

Lookout, the mobile security company that specializes in anti-malware apps for Android, looked at the problem of people losing their cell phones and determined the top 10 U.S. cities where phone losses occur (either simply losing it or by theft).

Lost and Found: The Challenges of Finding Your Lost or Stolen Phone

The top 10 cities are:

1. Miami
2. New York
3. Los Angeles
4. Phoenix
5. Sacremento
6. Chicago
7. Dallas
8. Houston
9. Philadelphia
10. Tampa

Three states have the dubious distinction of being the most likely place to have a cell phone lost or stolen by having two cities in the top 10 list: California (3 & 5), Florida (1 & 10) and Texas (7 & 8).

Lookout notes that the Lookout Mobile Security app provides a feature that can locate a lost or stolen Android phone on a map. iPhone and iPad users have a similar free service and app provided directly by Apple (Find iPhone) that can locate an iPhone or iPad active on a network.
