Track Santa’s Sleigh With NORAD Santa Tracker App

In the 20th century kids put out cookies and listened for the sound of jingle bells in hopes that they’d catch a glimpse of Santa Claus. Kids today have it a little bit easier, thanks to technology. NORAD has launched a new app that lets you track Santa’s whereabouts via GPS.

The NORAD app uses the the North Warning System radar system to follow Santa on his global travels on the night of December 24th. The tracking tool has 47 installations in position across the northern border of North America to track when Santa Claus has left the North Pole. Once Santa has loaded up his sleigh and taken off, NORAD can track his whereabouts with an infrared satellite tool that detects Rudolph’s nose. The geolocator also uses a Santa Cam network and Canadian NORAD fighter pilots to keep tabs on St. Nick.

The app is available in the App Store, Google Play, and in Windows 8. (Via The Chicago Tribune).
