Tumblr Updates Boost Discovery of New Content

Tumblr today released mobile app updates for iOS and Android that will make it easier for users to discover new content on the blog network.

The company billed the updates as an effort “to help you find more of the stuff you love.”

The updates allow users to search for tags and blogs and peruse trending tags and blogs. Each time a user searches for a tag, Tumblr also provides recommended blogs that use that subject tag.

The release comes amid fears that Tumblr may lose its edge in the wake of its acquisition by Yahoo. One of its original designers left the company shortly after the buyout, and watchers wonder whether Tumblr users will balk at the ads Yahoo’s network will likely begin to pipe into the site.
