TwitterForShittersLogo.jpgPerhaps it’s a good thing that the name of a certain social-networking platform doesn’t rhyme with, um, duck. Taking advantage of a fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) rhyme, nonprofit group Wherever the Need and Skadaddle Media teamed up to launch Twitter for Sh-tters, which is aimed at bringing “sanitation (and water) solutions to the places where they’re needed the most by building eco-sanitation toilets.”

According to AdAge.com, the Twitter campaign invites Twitter users, called Daily Dumpers, to tweet on everything from “potty humor to simply just talking shit,” as well as encouraging them to donate to Wherever the Need.

Skadaddle founder and co-president Todd Lieman told AdAge.com:

With thousands of worthy causes, perhaps all of which are admittedly sexier and more approachable than sanitation, we felt it was important to create a grass-roots communications initiative for Wherever the Need that addresses the issue in a bold manner. Our strategy is not to tug on heartstrings or create guilt for what we have. Instead, the campaign uses a straightforward approach that challenges individuals, corporations and even governments to quite literally step in it and—pardon the expression—give a shit.
