Abrams Research, headed by former MSNBC exec and anchor Dan Abrams, released its first Social Media Survey today.

They surveyed more than 200 people at New York’s social media week last week. Here’s what they found:

• Most people would recommend businesses use Twitter over any other social media site: 40% to just 15% for Facebook
• But – they’d pay for Facebook over any other site for their own use
• LinkedIn came in second in both categories, beating Facebook for business use and Twitter for personal use
• MySpace was last in both.

As for who is using social media best. Those surveyed said Zappos.com, CNN.com and candidate-turned-President Obama.
