New Viral Video Proves You May Not Be As Typical As You Think

You wake up every morning, go to work, come home, go to sleep. You make your money, put it in the bank, take it out to pay your bills. You eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pretty typical, right? Wrong!

A new viral infographic video from National Geographic that’s going viral today breaks down the world’s nearly 7 billion people to find out what the typical person looks like. The typical person may have a lot less in common with you than you think.

According to the video, the average person is right handed, makes less than $12,000 per year, has a cell phone but no bank account and is a 28-year old Han Chinese male. I’m right handed and I’ve got a cell phone, but aside from that it turns out that I’m far from typical. But even if you are a 28-year old Han Chinese man you won’t be typical for long. Apparently with the rate of population growth the world’s most typical person will be from India by 2030.

This viral video is part of a National Geographic series on the world’s population called ’7 Billion’, investigating the numbers and statistics that characterize the world’s population. Are you surprised by the statistics? How typical are you? Check out the video below and let us know!

Also, if you thought those statistics were interesting, check out the National Geographic video launched for the ’7 Billion’ campaign back in December. 7 billion is one heck of a big number, eh?
