
The record companies continue to press on with mobile: Universal Music Group (UMG) today announced an agreement with PlayPhone, the mobile media company, to offer real music tones from UMG’s artist catalog through PlayPhone’s various mobile entertainment destinations, including Wal-Mart, Best Buy and BET.
PlayPhone said in a statement that they now offer customers rich media spanning audio, video and gaming content from all four major music labels and their artists, in addition to game publishers and media companies such as SONY BMG, EMI, Disney, Vivendi, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
