I haven’t paid a lot of attention to RIM’s BlackBerry phones recently. So, how about pointing out two upcoming models (both from BGR)?
The Dakota model has a design that admirers of the original design (of which I am one) will appreciate: A fixed QWERTY thumb keyboard under a touch screen in portrait orientation. No pull-down or slide-out keyboard. The Dakota’s keyboard is always ready for you to start typing. In addition to the usual expected features, the Dakota provides HD video recording and NFC (Near Field Communications). NFC is a short range wireless protocol that is expected to enable mobile ecommerce in the near future.
The Torch 2 has a pull-down QWERTY thumb keyboard. It looks like the phone is a bit top-heavy when the keyboard is pulled down for typing. It does NOT provide HD video recording or NFC support like the Dakota. You can probably guess which upcoming BlackBerry looks more interesting to me.
