US Army Finally Turning to Interactive eBooks for Popular Afghanistan Manual

The US Army has been releasing mobile apps for some time now, but it has only recently reformatted its popular Afghanistan training manual for iPad users.

The eBook edition is an interactive version of Vanguard of Valor, which has been publicly accessible as a PDF download. The Paper and PDF versions are used to educate mid-career officers at the Combined Arms Center about lessons learned from the Afghanistan.

Vanguard of Valor: Enhanced Edition seamlessly combines eight compelling platoon level narratives with audio, video, simulations, photographs and much more to create an informative and immersive military history that shows the face of battle in Afghanistan.  The Combat Studies Institute invites readers to explore these meticulously researched and richly detailed narratives written by professional military historians and now enhanced with multimedia content to witness the day-to-day challenges faced by US Soldiers.

Military buffs can also check out the vast array of public apps that the military has declassified, available on Google Play.
