CNET News is reporting that Verizon Wireless and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts plan to develop a new mobile application that helps families plan trips and get the most out of their Disney vacations.
“With more than 90 percent of its guests walking through the gates with mobile phones, Disney Parks and Resorts executives see cell phones as a perfect way to connect with their customers.”
Disney plans to announce today an exclusive multi-year agreement with Verizon Wireless; Verizon will host the app and also agree to expand its cellular coverage in Disney parks so that the app actually, you know, works. Look for the app to appear in Verizon’s Get It Now store by early 2009. The report said that initially the application will only work for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. with support for other Disney resorts coming later on.
