A Video Infographic History of Twitter

When Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone launched Twitter in 2006, they started a phenomenon. Last week, the social network powered by a stream of 140-character bits of information celebrated its eighth birthday. While Twitter invited users to rediscover their first tweet, Mashable created an illustrated timeline of Twitter’s inception, explosion and development, all the way up to 2014.

From Dorsey’s first tweet declaring that he was “setting up my Twttr” and rapid growth to 100 million tweets a day, to a $31 billion dollar opening on the NYSE and the record-breaking Oscar selfie, check out the video infographic.
