Viewdle SocialCamera Automatically Tags Pictures

If you upload photos to Facebook or Flickr, you are probably familiar with the ability to tag your friends that are in the photos. The process involves uploading the photos to the service, then logging on to the service using a desktop computer to tag the photos. Viewdle SocialCamera is an Android app that provides the ability to tag photos on the phone using your Facebook friends as a source for names.

As you tag photos SocialCamera learns the faces of the names you select, so when you take new photos of friends you previously tagged, the app automatically matches the name to the face. You can take new photos from directly within the app, or select photos from the phone’s gallery to tag. SocialCamera will share photos with Facebook, Flickr, or via MMS and email. When you select to share via email or MMS, SocialCamera uses your phone’s contacts for the source of names to tag the photo.

Viewdle SocialCamera is currently in beta, is free, and currently available in the Android Market.
