In an interview with MocoNews, Vodafone UK content chief Mike Eaton talked about tearing down the walls around its Vodafone Live content service, its exclusive early release access to Madonna‘s upcoming release “Hard Candy,” ad-funded content and on-deck v. off-deck offerings.
The leading carrier is against ad-funded games and using advertising instead of charging for most other content, but might consider the advertising model as an option for video. The jury is still out on the future of mobile broadcast TV, but Eaton does see “a strong future for streaming over 3G and HSDPA networks” and growing interest in longer-form, on-demand video.
