Vodio’s Personalized Video Discovery App Now On Android

Vodio has released an Android version of its video discovery app, the company announced today.

Created in 2011, Vodio organizes videos into channels like tech, entertainment, and sports; and serves up new ones based on what’s already being shared on social networks as well as the user’s personal taste.

“Vodio for Android was designed from the bottom to the top to better suit the Android, although the basic principles are pretty much the same,” said Vodio CEO Jonathan Messika via email.

The well-received iOS version was included in Apple’s Essential Apps Collections with popular apps like Flipboard, Pulse, Hulu, and Netflix and has an average user rating of 4.7/5.0, based on more than 5,000 reviews since its release in 2012.

To date, Vodio users have spent over one million hours watching more than 35 million videos.

More improvements are in the works. The company just secured an $800,000 bridge financing round led by RSL Venture Partners and BTG Pactual with participation from other angel investors in order to expand its algorithm team and grow its user base.
