A while back, Wal-Mart and AC/DC announced an exclusive distribution channel for the band’s physical CD, to go with a Verizon Wireless deal for digital downloads. Now, according to the New York Times, MTV plans to announce on Tuesday that it has made a deal with the band and its label, Columbia Records, to create an AC/DC version of the channel’s popular Rock Band video game, which will then be sold only at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and on Walmart.com.

The report said that Wal-Mart will create a special area in each of its stores to display the new album and the new game, as well as the band’s catalog of CDs, DVDs and related licensed clothing. But hey, the band said it was all about the music, not about money, so what do we know.
