Warren Buffett Joins Twitter

twitter, social media, social networks, Investor Warren Buffett joined Twitter and sent his first tweet out less than an hour ago (“Warren is in the house”) and has already amassed more than 65,000 followers. Update at 2:15 p.m.: 95,916 followers.

The lone tweet has been retweeted more than 12,000 times and favorited more than 2,700 times.

Buffett’s immediate popularity was ushered in by welcome tweets from prominent Twitter users including company staff and Bill Gates, who has 11 million followers.

At least so far, it appears Buffett is as good at social media as he is at investing. (But if he’s going to be a hip online guy now, Buffett might want to invest in a website that looks less like this one.)
