Jeff Weiner was promoted to CEO at LinkedIn and added to the professional network’s board of directors. The company said Reid Hoffman will remain as founder and executive chairman.
Weiner joined LinkedIn as interim president in January. Prior to that, he was executive in residence at Accel Partners and Greylock Partners, and he also served as executive vice president of Yahoo!’s Network Division.
LinkedIn said it topped 42 million global members during the past year and expects to turn a profit in 2009, as it did last year. The company has secured more than $100 million in funding.
Weiner joined LinkedIn following a December shakeup in which CEO Dan Nye resigned and Hoffman took over the reins.
