The PEJ reveals “the new media agenda – for the second week in a row – flexed its muscle on a hot-button consumer issue.” Last week, that consumer issue was orange juice.
The No. 1 subject on the PEJ New Media Index was still Pres. Obama. In fact, he garnered the top two spots. But the #3 most popular story was the reaction to the packaging change of Tropicana orange juice. Tropicana bowed to pressure and is returning to its original design.
1. Obama Opinion Polls – 15%
2. Obama Budget – 14%
3. Tropicana Packaging – 14%
4. Krugman/Bank Nationalization – 9%
5. Pogue/Kindle – 6%
The PEJ found traditional media “were once again far more focused on the economy…Fully 38% of that newshole was filled by the economic crisis, including how Obama’s proposed budget would impact the economy and the state of the U.S. banking industry.”
