According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, Twitter use nearly doubled in the U.S. in last seven months of 2008. 11% of online Americans used Twitter as of December. That’s up from 6% last May.
The median age of a Twitter user is 31, compared to 27 for MySpace, 26 for Facebook and 40 for LinkedIn. One in five U.S. Twitter users is in the 18-to-24 demographic.
