They’re already dominating online music sales, and helping to bring about the death of the traditional music industry as we know it. But as this CNN/Money article argues, Apple, along with TiVo and other DVR units, could help kill off the 30-second commercial spot.
Of course, you’d have to buy shows from Apple’s iTunes Store at $1.99 a pop, when you could watch them for free on regular television instead. But with today’s iPods and now the upcoming Apple TV unit, more people are able to watch shows without commercials — leaving advertisers scrambling yet again.
