Hi ThinkMobile readers - all the great mobile apps, devices and reviews are now a part of mediabistro's SocialTimes.com. Thanks for reading!

I really thought this PC World article’s title was a typo until I read the article…

Chinese Company Shows Windows XP Phone

Yes, the article is about a phone that runs Windows XP – not Windows Mobile. This xpPhone apparently goes into sleep mode or something like it so you don’t have to boot everytime you need to use the phone. It has a 4.8 inch 800×480 LCD touch screen (very large for a phone), pull-out QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, GPS, optional WiMax and 120GB hard drive (no RAM specs given) built around an AMD processor. It looks like it will only be available in China.

Couple of thoughts on this item that we’ll probably never see in the U.S.:

1. Microsoft Windows XP will never die!
2. Do you really want a phone that requires heavy-duty anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewalls running all the time?
3. Hard drive? That means you have to defragment it now and then too.
