Yahoo Acquires Mobile Video App Qwiki

Yahoo has acquired the mobile video, photo and music app company Qwiki, in a deal whose terms were not disclosed. In a blog post, Yahoo wrote: “We’re excited to announce that Yahoo! acquired Qwiki - a company that uses awesome  technology to bring together pictures, music and video to capture the art of storytelling.”

The app will continue to live on through Yahoo. Qwiki will move into Yahoo’s New York City offices. Here is more from the Qwiki blog: “The Qwiki app will live on as a standalone entity inside Yahoo!, where we will grow our thriving community and where our team will continue to work to help you share life’s best experiences.”

Yahoo has been gobbling up mobile services companies this year as the company shifts to focus on its mobile business. Recently the company purchased photo editing app company GhostBird Software, Tumblr, Stamped and Summly, among other companies.
