Yahoo! Calendar Gets a Site Refresh

I’ve been wanting to use web-based calendar services but never really had the patience and perseverance to schedule my day-to-day activities. The calendar function of my mobile phone was more than enough for my scheduling needs. Either I’m one in a million who never really used web calendar, or I’m one of the millions of web calendar users. But all this might change now. Now, I wanted to try out Yahoo’s calendar service which I learned have been around for 10 years now. And Yahoo! Calendar just got a much needed site refresh.

For those of you who are interested to know what are the new features of the new Yahoo! Calendar, here’s a quick rundown of the features:

  • embraces Open standards which practically means you can use pretty other calendaring functions.
  • supports broadband and mobile device so you are assured that you wil be connected
  • web 2.0 technologies which made possible to incorporate cool visual effects

The new Yahoo Calendar works with Yahoo’s acquired service Zimbra. You can pretty much do the following with the new Yahoo! Calendar:

  • subscriber to any iCalendar-based public calendar service.
  • set email, IM or SMS reminders
  • Personalize your Yahoo! Calendar with interesting photos from Flickr to make your online calendar as visually appealing as it is productive
  • Set email, IM or SMS reminders for important activities and never miss a birthday or anniversary

Yahoo promises to introduce more innovative features on the Yahoo Calendar with team schedules and class schedules.
