At Yahoo’s mobile marketing summit yesterday in NYC, Yahoo urged companies to “get in now and do it right,” MediaPost is reporting.
In America, we’re running about 12 to 18 months behind the Europeans in cellphone technology. Meanwhile, in Europe, the mobile ad market is virtually exploding. So put the two together, and voila.
As Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) president Laura Marriot said in the article, “ad campaigns need to be entertaining and relevant while integrating other media channels, but most of all, they should be about consumer pull, not advertiser push. Recent studies have shown that mobile subscribers are open to receiving ads in exchange for premium content, but ad clutter, irrelevance or being forced to opt-out would quickly degrade their experience.”
