Yahoo Signs Mobile Search Deal in Latin America

Yahoo is teaming up with Latin America’s biggest wireless carrier, America Movil, to provide mobile services to 143 million subscribers in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a MediaPost article.

Under the multi-year agreement, Yahoo’s oneSearch will be the default search provider on America Movil cell phone decks. Yahoo also plans to create custom versions of oneSearch geared to each of the 16 countries where America Movil provides service, the report said.

Yahoo’s oneSearch platform is designed to provide search results tailored to tiny cell phone screens, and also works to deliver results with the fewest number of key presses possible.
