You Know You’re a Wattpadder When…

Last week, Wattpad user Jordan Lynde posted an image online. In just a few days, it was “liked” 380 times. What was the image? A heart with the message: “You know you’re a Wattpadder when your heart skips a beat every time your favorite story gets updated.” That idea set the website in motion to formulate a contest on Tumblr.

Wattpad is asking social media users to show the world what makes the Wattpad reading experience fun. The company’s newest campaign invites all Wattpad users to post an image on their Tumblr blog that completes this sentence: “You Know You’re a Wattpadder When _______”. To encourage reblogging, the winner will be chosen from the ten most popular entries.

Wattpad promotes itself as the best place to discover and share stories. According to the website:

“On Wattpad you’ll discover a new form of entertainment where you can interact and share stories across text, video, images and through conversations with other readers and writers.

Wattpad stories are always available everywhere. Discover new stories, connect with readers and writers and create your own on wattpad.com and through Wattpad apps for mobile and tablets.”

Tumblr’s user base aligns with Wattpad’s fastest growing demographic of young adults aged 13-34. Wattpad users are social media savvy, mobile, creative and potential brand evangelists.

Eva Lau, head of Community Relations at Wattpad adds, “It is an externally viral and fun contest for our users. On our side, it promotes the Wattpad brand and increases user acquisition. And it is great for search engine optimization too.”

Over a hundred submissions have been posted on Tumblr and the number of entries is expected to continue to grow until the contest closes after Christmas. Wattpad expects to receive a large number of submissions based on the success of last summer’s Instagram contest. Wattpad’s hugely successful photo-sharing contest on Instagram received over 2,500 submission.
